Have you ever repaired a damaged AC yourself? As much as you would like to fix destroyed machines in your home by yourself, it might not be a good move. Dealing with electronic devices such as drills or chainsaws can be challenging and risky; if you are not a professional, don’t try to engage in machine-fixing activities.
To maintain the function ability of your AC, you need to ensure that it is handled with skilled personnel to avoid any future complications. Also, by fixing such a machine, you are putting yourself at so many risks, including accidents.
The following are reasons why you shouldn’t set your AC.
1. General Safety
You could be endangering your life by fixing the AC. In everything you do, you should always put safety first. You could get into accidents like shocks resulting from high voltage produced by the unit. On an extreme level, you may end up dead if not injured.
Apart from your safety, you could also be putting your house in danger. When a fire occurs during poor handling of the unit, your home will be affected, and if you are lucky to be alive, you will need to start from scratch.
2. Missing Spare Parts
You might think you can handle fixing your unit until you realize that the problem requires replacing the destroyed part. A spare part may not be easy to find unless you take your machine to a professional who can repair it.
Sometimes, the unit may be destroyed beyond recognition, making it difficult for you to know how the part is called. Therefore, if you are not familiar with ACs, hold back, and get professional personnel to handle the unit.
3. Future Complications
Future complications will be waiting for you if you don’t take a step to maintain your AC. Because ACs are complicated machines, trying to fix them can lead to complications that will obliterate them.
Fortunately, you can avoid endless future expenses by giving your AC the right treatment. Ensure that you take your machine to an expert who will fix the problem without troubles.
4. Poor Experience
Even though you have few ideas about fixing broken ACs, don’t be fast to act; some problems encountered by AC units are more significant than your little experience. Take your ACs to an expert that can work on the issue without doubts.
As long as your ACs are in good hands, don’t worry about spending your money; some repairs require spare part fixing, which could be costly.
5. False Knowledge from Internet Networks
Thanks to technology, you can find any information you need from any internet network! As much as this sounds like great news, it might also cause serious trouble in society. Just because you watched a video demonstrating how you can AC repair at home from YouTube, it doesn’t mean that the information provided is correct.
You should avoid looking for any info online when fixing your AC. By following such information, you are putting your AC’s condition in the worst position.
Why waste your time and energy when you can call an expert to come and fix your AC for free? Just like most electronic devices, ACs also come with a warrant privilege. Don’t work yourself out by trying to fix the AC without proper knowledge. Make use of that warrant by calling the company that sold to you.
However, this will only apply if the warranty is still active. And if the contract already expired, save your energy by calling another expert around you for assistance.
7. Multiplex Prognosis
ACS is made up of many internal parts that enhance its proper functioning. Each of those parts plays a vital role in its function ability. But is your AC unit is damaged, it might be challenging to know which part is preventing your company from functioning.
Additionally, you might not know a proper way of fixing the region, even if you find it. A successful diagnosis requires an experienced individual.
8. Are You Handling the Refrigerant Properly?
A refrigerant is an essential part of the unit. Even if you know that your ACs refrigerant is not performing well, you are not handling it as required. As a sensitive part of the AC, you need to live it to an expert, maintaining its nature and performance.
Careless handling of the refrigerant can lead to damages and, thus, more expenses.
9. Wasted Time.
You may be tempted to fix your AC because you think that calling an expert or a professional from the company where you bought it is a long process. Imagine failing to call an expert to fix your AC because you think you can handle it, ending up destroying the entire system. Make calculations, ensure that you make no mistakes when trying to maintain your AC.
Call an expert and wait if no one comes to check your AC without any feedback, like your friends or family, for an AC expert recommendation. But to be on the right side, buy your ACs from companies you can count on during emergencies. At times, your call might not even go through because call lines get traffic on busy days.
Choose a company you can trust, a company near you so that even if the line doesn’t go through, you can get assistance to get the air conditioner down and take it to the company.
Calling an expert to handle your air conditioning system gives your machine a chance to offer a longer service life. Don’t try to fix anything you can’t hold on your ACs. Let the expert do it for you. Also, failure to follow instructions on maintaining your air conditioner can lead to enormous expenses in the future.
The amount of money you could have used to pay an expert to handle your air conditioner’s problems once will cost you in the future, for you will end up ruining your unit completely. If your company gets damaged beyond repair, you will be forced to purchase another air conditioner, expensive.

To help us with this task, we enlisted the help of several industry experts who have lots on knowledge about these two power tool power houses. By the end of the review, you should clearly know which of these two brands is the best and which of the four drills that we looked at is the best.

Because it has been manufactured by one of the best power tools tools brands in the industry, you can rest assure that this is a high quality product. Given the many different features that it has, the drill is very reasonably priced and so is within the price range of most individuals, including novice DIYers and professional tradesmen.
Because it is a combi drill, it can either be a an impact driver or a hammer, depending on what task you need to perform. When it comes to changing the drill bit, this can be done quickly and easily, and does not require the use of a chuck. Instead, all you need to do is twist the 13mm dial the appropriate way in order to either tighten or loosen it. With the Ryobi drill having two different gear settings, it lends itself for use on a variety of applications around a construction site.
Similarly, the Ryobi P1810 One+ 18V Lithium Ion Drill can operate at two different speeds, meaning that you can set it at just the right one for the job that you are working on. With the highest speed setting, you are comfortably able to drill through a variety of materials. Also, because the gears are made out of metal, they will never wear down and break, regardless of the strength of the material that the Ryobi drill is used to screw into. The Ryobi should be able to provide you with enough power to get through any job, regardless of how big it is. Possessing a number of handy features, the Ryobi P208 One+ 18V Lithium Ion Drill has been specially designed so that it is comfortable to use. However, it does not have the speed or power that the other drills in the list of Our Top Picks have. This means that you have to work that little bit harder when attempting to drill holes into a surface. With the two different speed settings that it has, it is able to run at a max speed of either 440 RPM or 1,600 RPM.
Although this is not the highest speed, it is still not bad for this type of drill. On the lowest speed setting, the Ryobi drill is pretty much an impact driver. There are twenty three different positions that the powar tools can be adjusted to suit the certain material that your are working on. Having it correctly positioned will ensure that the drill does not get out of control, something that can result in a fastener head snapping off. The torque that the Ryobi is able to produce equates to 340 inch pounds, which is a decent amount.
The Ryobi P208 One Battery 18V Lithium Ion Drill is, as the name suggests, powered by an 18 volt battery that comes with it as standard. However, you can also use a nickel cadmium or lithium ion battery with it also, but these would need to be purchased at an additional cost. The standard battery takes about 1 hour to charge up fully, which is quite a long time and means that you would never want to run out of battery half way through a job, as it would means lots of waiting around.
Once the Ryobi is fully charged up though, the battery will run for a long time, as it has a good life span of around 45 minutes. Despite of the many benefits that the drill clearly has, it still comes with an affordable price tag, thus making it available to the masses, including first time and novice DIYers who are likely to not want to spend much on such a powar tools. They keyless chuck that the Ryobi cordless tool uses is half an inch in size and lets you quickly and easily change the drill bit by hand, rather than having to use a tools.
It comes with a magnetic holder, which can be used to store all of the drill bits for it that you have. Thanks to the bubble level that sits in the top of the power tools Ryobi P208 One+ 18V Lithium Ion Drill, it is clear to see if you are drilling straight and accurately. Similarly, the LED light that is built into it enables you to work effectively even in those workspaces that are dimly lit or totally void of any light. The cordless tools Ryobi drill has a compact and lightweight design that allows you to use it in even the tightest of spaces.
Because the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Hammer Drill has a powerful brushless motor, it delivers a 57 percent longer run time than one with a brushed motor. This means that you can work much longer without having to switch over or recharge the XR Li-Ion battery that it uses. With the battery having a fuel gauge on it, you are easily able to see how much run time the battery has left, meaning that you should never run out of a drill power half way through a job and so can get it done quicker.
The Dewalt drill has two different speed settings of 0 to 600 RPM and 0 to 2,250 RPM, so you should be able to find one that works for the task you have at hand, whether that be fastening or drilling. For masonry work, the Dewalt drill can perform at 0 to 250 BPM, delivering a good amount of pure speed. Thanks to the Dewalt being really compact (measuring just over 7 inches) and quite lightweight, it is ideal for use in the smallest of places. The Dewalt does come with a case, which makes carrying it from job to job and storing it an easy thing to do.
The hammer setting on the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Hammer Drill can be switched off should you not want to use it. With the Dewalt having a built in LED light means that the Dewalt drill can be used in those situations where there is little or no light. In addition to this, the Dewalt also has trigger delay of 20 seconds, which is impressive on this type of powar tools. The secure grip that the Dewalt has means that it is very easy to control compared with other similar drills that are currently available on the market.
A helpful feature that the Dewalt drill does have is a belt hook. This lets you keep it attached to you at all times, ensuring that it does not get lost when you are working on a busy construction site. Another great feature is the fact that the Dewalt has a built in holder for the drill bit, ensuring that you do not misplace or lose it ever. However, all of these many benefits come at a cost, with the Dewalt powar tools being fairly expensive. This means that it probably is not suitable for everyone, including those individuals who are on a limited budget.
The DEWALT 20V MAX Cordless Drill has a hammer setting and features a brushless motor that provides a smooth running experience. This results in a prolonged running time compared with a regular brushed motor and so lets you work uninterrupted no matter what jobs you are working on. The Dewalt features two different speed settings, as well as three varying drive modes so that you can get juts the right level of thrust that you require impact driver. Changing the drill bit is done without a chuck for a more convenient experience.
The Dewalt drill has been designed in an ergonomic manner and so you are able to easily grip the handle and the powar tools is balanced well. To compliment this, the Dewalt is very lightweight and weighs just slightly over 8 pounds, even when the battery is attached to it. The Li Ion battery that the Dewalt uses is very fast charging, meaning that when it does eventually run out of power, impact driver you do not have to wait long for it to be fully charged back up. However, when used with full power, the battery does not work for that long.
In this section, we attempt to answer some of the most frequently asked questions on the Internet about these two brands (Ryobi vs Dewalt) and the power tools tools that they each manufacture. As we earlier stated, to help us with this task, we have enlisted the help of several industry experts who possess lots of knowledge about this market. Thus ensures that all of the information that we provide you with here is accurate and up to date, and so lets you make a decision about which drill to purchase.
Is Ryobi good brand?
Most people in the market for a powar tool will be aware of the Ryobi tools cordless. This is because they produce a wide variety of products that are good quality and well priced, thus making them available to the masses. What is particularly good about Ryobi tools is their innovative 18V One+ vs system that lets you use the same battery across all of their power tools tools . This is not only highly convenient, but also saves you money in the long run. For this reason, their products are loved by both amateurs and professional tradesmen.
Which power tool brand is the best?
There are many different brands out there that make power tools tools right now. These include the likes of Black and Decker, Bosch, Ryobi vs Dewalt drill, Black and Decker, Hitachi, Makita, SnapOn, vs plus many many more. However, our favorite powar tool brand has got to be Milwaukee. This is because their products are of the highest quality, thanks to the excellent components that they use, and give a good level of performance. The only down side to this is that they come with a very expensive price tag.
Is Ryobi owned by Home Depot?
Although Home Depot sells Ryobi 18V products, they do not own the powar tool brand. The brands within this space that they do own include HDX and vs Husky, and these too are also available for purchase from their stores.
Are Ryobi and DeWalt batteries interchangeable?
Thanks to the handy 18V One+ system, Ryobi one plus vs dewalt batteries can be interchanged between any of their powar tools tools that also use this system. This is both convenient and can safe you money in the long run, as there is no need to purchase a battery for every Ryobi powar tool that you have. Similarly, the standard 20V battery that Dewalt produces is compatible with any 20 volt powar tool that the company produces and can be charged up using any of their 20 volt chargers.
The Best Ryobi vs Dewalt Cordless Drill Of Them All
DEWALT 20V MAX XR Hammer Drill
Even though these two brands are very similar and both produce good quality cordless drills, it is clear to see that the Dewalt cordless drills that we reviewed in the above list of Our Top Picks are better than the Ryobi ones. In particular, we like the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Hammer Drill best of all. This is because it has a long run time, has variable speed settings, and even comes with a built in LED light. One thing that we did not like about it however is the expensive price tag that comes with it.
Cordless drills – you can’t get enough of them if you’re a DIYer. They’re the definition of handy – the incarnation of the Ultimate Tool, which can help achieve many feats in home decoration and woodworking. Pretty much any DIY homeowner’s bread-and-butter gadget.
Makita is well-known for its competent offerings in the brushless drill category. They have gained quite a respectable reputation to the point that it will really be a surprise if any best cordless or brushless drill list will not include a Makita drill or two.
Makita brushless drills might be a little more expensive than their brushed counterparts, but the saying, “You get what you pay for,” could not ring truer in this case. Makita drills with brushless motors simply perform better and have starkly longer durability as well. And, compared to other brands, Makita’s brushless drills are relatively low-cost.
This is why once you have made up your mind that you are willing to pay extra for a Makita brushless drill, good for you. You’re aiming for quality over quantity, which as far as power tools are concerned, should always be anyone’s number one priority.
All the more so for people who will be using their drills consistently over a long period of time. We’ll prove just that in this Makita brushless drill review.
Reviewing the Best Makita Brushless Drills
#1 Makita CX200RB
BL brushless motor driver-drill that delivers a maximum 1,240 inches pounds of torque
18V Lithium-ion battery
Assist mode that prevents cross threading and screw cam-out by limiting speed before impact
The CX200RB remains the darling of Makita cordless drill simply because it delivers all the essentials you normally look for in a cordless drill with a brushless motor. In fact, the brushless motor of this product alone is enough to lift its value tenfold.
Why? It offers variable speed and a decent power based on its torque alone. That gives you adequate assistance for any kind of fastening or drilling you do, and you get to control the speed of drilling in two levels. That’s nifty for any DIYer.
Another facet that is not hard to love is its assist mode that prevents cross-threading, which you probably already know can significantly damage any kind of thread.
Furthermore, it feels great when held (a characteristic that a lot of Makita drills share, so kudos to that!) due to its compact design and holds back in weight much like any decent cordless drill. And not to mention the fact that its battery charges fast as well.
Indeed, if there’s a Makita brushless drill that more than deserves to represent what the company offers in this category, the CX200RB is worthy of being considered as such.
Very efficient and excellent in performing most fastening, driving, and drilling tasks
Lightweight (weight rounds up to 3 pounds only) and compact
Fantastic, powerful motor
It might take some time to get used to changing the drilling speed
The XFD11ZB is incredibly lightweight – the lightest, in fact, in all the selections here having a weight of only exactly 2 lbs. Most of this can be attributed to its very compact design, which technically sets high standards on ergonomics and portability a sub-compact drill should aim for. You won’t have second thoughts using this tool on some overhead drilling and fastening, that much is certain. Nonetheless, that’s just one fact that makes it outstanding.
It also uses an 18V lithium-ion battery that immediately indicates more power, which the drill more than makes apparent with the 350 in-lb torque and 1,700 RPMs it can achieve. That’s enough to drive most standard-sized and longer length decking screws with minimal to zero effort. Another bonus we appreciate is the included LED light because you never know when you’ll have to work on areas and spots with limited lighting.
However, it’s not without its shortcomings, which are apparent in the relatively low battery life (due to a lack of a slot for a second battery) and the difficulty in switching between its variable speeds. The former is not that big of a deal, though, because a single charge of its battery can prove to finish most jobs anyway.
Provides enough power for most jobs
Small and utterly lightweight
Rubberized soft grip makes it easy to the hands
Torque provides enough support and stability for most screw turning activities
Value for money and cost-effectiveness. That’s where the XFD061 shines the most because it delivers way more than what you can expect from a brushless drill in this price point.
The 530 in-lbs of torque produced by this brushless is higher than normal for its price, so if you want more power in your drill without spending more dollars, this is the one to get. You do not get much noise from the motor, too, which is another perk.
It’s also lightweight, like most of the selections here, but it’s second only to the unit above, which happens to be the lightest (and that still says a lot about its portability). The battery is your standard 3Ah battery that claims to provide 50% more work capacity, but we attribute that mostly to it using a brushless motor.
Interestingly, it doesn’t make use of a metal chuck but hard plastic instead. What’s similarly intriguing is that this material actually gave it a stronger and firmer feel every time drilling or fastening is performed with it. It looks more durable, too, highlighting just why we think this Makita brushless drill can beat any other model that it is set against.
Above-average torque and power
Can easily adapt to various work conditions (i.e. jobs where it might get soaked)
Noticeably quiet operation
Hard plastic chuck that is surprisingly better than metal ones
Peaking at 440 in-lbs of torque, this drill just goes slightly above the average power you can expect from brushless drills. Ample is the best word to describe its capacity, which makes it a decent tool to get you through most tasks that require a cordless drill.
Its 1,900 RPM is fairly high, though, which only drives the point further that this Makita drill is a safer bet for those who want a bit more power in their drills without going overboard.
That said, you think of the Makita XFD131 as the second-best option to any of the other drills mentioned above. Why? Well, for one, it’s not as light as the other Makita drills since it weighs 3.8 pounds (though that certainly won’t take too much of a toll on you even when you work with it too long).
Besides that, it also has the usual two-speed variable feature, uses the same 18V 3.0Ah lithium-ion battery, and the rubber-coated grip. It’s pretty much a clone of the other drills, give or take more torque and RPMs. One other difference is that it’s slightly noisier.
That said, it’s comparatively cheaper, so you can’t cover the few tens of dollars difference in the prices of the other Makita drills included here, then this is a great option for you.
Satisfactory power and torque
Decent battery life
Compact and still lighter than most cordless drills
Costs a bit less
Slightly noisier than other models, especially when used to drill metal
Have you already narrowed down your option for the Makita brushless drill that is best for your purposes? If you’re still having second thoughts, perhaps, you just need a clear-cut answer to your lingering questions? Should you take the time to read this buyer’s guide below, you’ll probably be able to settle whether a Makita brushless drill is the most suitable for you and which Makita drill you should choose.
Are brushless drills always better than brushed varieties?
The short answer to this is yes. What makes Makita great is that they design and create their own brushless motors, allowing them to smoothly stand out from the competition.
Why wouldn’t it if it’s simply more energy-efficient (hence, always lasts longer), more powerful (with naturally higher torque and RPMs), more compact and lightweight, and more maintenance-friendly? It would be absurd for brands (especially Makita that is known for its strict adherence to efficiency) to opt for brushed motors considering this fact.
Why are they almost always cordless?
As you can see, Makita brushless drills largely overlap with their cordless offerings. More than 50% of the cordless drill market already incorporate these more powerful and efficient brushless motors. In Makita, brushless motors are pretty much a household name, underscoring the brands dedication to efficiency.
There’s no denying that cordless drills are just more convenient by virtue of their portability alone. In short, it’s a match made in heaven in terms of what these two innovations bring to the table.
Why are all the best brushless drills 18V?
When it comes to battery, brushless drills either come in 12V and 18V varieties. The reason why 18V is almost always preferred is that it simply guarantees more power. Considering the economy in design that sub-compact drills already incorporate (often done to keep weight down), it is only logical for brands to make sure they don’t fall short on power by opting for 18V as much as possible.
What Makita brushless drill would you recommend?
The Makita CX200RB is what you want if you want the best. It’s the only drill here that crosses the 1,000 in-lbs torque limit that indicates unquestionable power. And it manages to deliver what the other models provide. On some, they are on-par, while on other aspects, it’s just plain better.
Do remember the pointers we shared above so you won’t have a hard time deciding what Makita brushless drill to buy. We hope that this Makita brushless drill review has proven to be helpful in giving you the information you need to assist in your decision.
Compared to other power tools, it’s not that hard to decide on a brushless drill because they already offer enough power, durability, and efficiency – they’re an upgrade of their brushed counterparts, after all.
However, your decision should still largely hinge on the factors that make a cordless great, not least of which are weight, battery life, variable speed, and ergonomics. For this, you need not look further than the motor, battery, and size of any given drill.
Our Top Pick

If you go online and read the customer reviews on the DeWalt DCK277C2 combo kit you will find that they are mostly positive. Points mentioned include the efficiency of the brushless motors, the amount of power that both the power tools generate, and the life span of the battery.
However, like most reviews, it is not all positive. Some users were not so impressed with the build quality of the power tools, the drill bits jumping out, and the fact that neither come with a belt clip.
How Does it Compare to the DeWalt DCK283D2?
The DCK277C2 combo kit is smaller and less powerful than the DCK283D2 combo kit. The DCK283D2 is more capable of dealing with heavy duty type jobs. The power tools provided in the combo kit are also physically larger and so are much heavier. Unlike the DCK277C2, the DCK283D2 combo kit is aimed at professionals.
After looking at all the functions and features of the DeWalt DCK277C2 combo kit, we strongly feel that this is a must have for any DIY beginner whom is looking to purchase their first power tools. They are able to handle most jobs around the house and are really easy to use.
Given its price, the combo kit produces a high level of precision. It has everything you need already included, including a useful carry bag and battery charger, so there will be no need for any additional purchases. DeWalt is also a leader in the power tool industry so high quality is guaranteed.
However, if you are an experienced professional who is likely to be using these power tools on a commercial basis then we would probably advise against going for this combo kit. It simply will not be able to tackle the more heavy duty jobs where you will need an abundance of power.
Each one of these power tool brands continually competes with one another by showing off what their different power tools can do. While one brand or model may excel in a certain area, another will provide better power tool features in another category.
There are countless advantages and disadvantages to each and every one of their products. This is something we will share with you in this review. This DeWalt drill comes with an efficient motor and a metal transmission with 3 speeds. With these features you can rest assured that it will perform above and beyond what you need. Its three speeds run between 0 and 600 RPM, 0 and 1,250 RPM, and 0 and 2,000 RPM. This means it has a greater speed capacity than the Makita XPH10Z drill.
The battery on the DC985B is also superior to the Makita. It is powered by a 20 volt lithium ion battery which will give as much as a 35% longer running time than the standard 18 volt battery used on most other drills. They are also more durable. It has a metal ratcheting chuck that is half an inch and accepts a number of bit sizes and types, as well as carbide inserts that reduce slippage of the bits.
The DC985B has been designed with a handle that is both slim and soft that ensures maximum comfort for the user. However, its brushed motor means that it weighs in at slightly more than the Makita XPH10Z does. This drill too has an LED light built in which has a delay of 20 seconds and so aids visibility in work spaces with low light conditions.
This model of impact driver by Makita is highly versatile and can be used within a number of different applications. The XDT11Z has a variable speed setting of between 0 and 2,900 RPM and 0 and 3,500 RPM.
This drill has an impact driver that is quite powerful and delivers 1,460 pounds in torque. This is thanks to an innovative 4 pole motor developed by Makita to deliver large amounts of power meaning no fastening job is ever too big for this power tool.
Weighing in at only 2.8 pounds, the XDT11Z is relatively lightweight compared with other impact drivers currently available on the market. Along with its ergonomic and compact design, this is a comfortable power tool that you can easily use for extended periods of time without experiencing fatigue.
It has a quarter inch hex chuck which makes changing the bit easy and fast, ensuring time is not wasted when using the impact driver. With an LED light that is built in it means that you can use the XDT11Z in poorly lit and dark work spaces.
This is a lightweight and compact power tool that never disappoints. As is the case with most other DeWalt products, it uses a 20 volt lithium ion battery that will guarantee a longer run time and greater durability. Just like the Makita XDT the impact driver uses a hex chuck that is a quarter of an inch, so it means changing the drill bit with one hand is possible. This helps to speed things up as it minimizes down time when having to change bits.
It produces a maximum torque of 1,400 pounds which is less than that of the Makita but is still very high and more than enough for most tasks you will work on. The DCF885B has variable speeds of between 0 and 2,800 RPM and 0 and 3,200 RPM. This makes it perfect for a number of different applications.
This DeWalt impact driver has an LED light with 20 second delay that comes built in as standard. This means it can be used in low light or in dark work spaces.
These two models are very similar. Not only do they weigh the same but they also have many features that are similar. However, with its higher speeds and maximum torque the Makita XD11Z is our favourite.
This particular model of circular saw has a highly powerful motor that is capable of putting out a maximum output of 460 watts, generating as much as 3,700 RPM. It has a maximum cutting capacity of over 2 inch and can make bevel cuts at an angle of up to 50 degrees.

It has an ergonomic design which includes a magnesium shoes that is lightweight. The DCS393’s handle is optimized to make it easy to control and comfortable to use without experiencing fatigue in the hand.
Pretty much most of the performance, functions and features of the Makita XSS02Z are a replica of that of the DeWalt DCS393. The weight of the two circular saws is almost the same, so no matter which one you go for you will still have a good power tool on your hands.
It runs on a motor that is high torque motor and can run up to as much as 3,700 RPM. This means it will always deliver fast cuts that are strong enough to go through wood with ease. This is also, in part, due to its 6.5 inch cutting blade. The circular saw has a cutting capacity of over 2 inch at its maximum and has a bevel capacity of up to 50 degrees, which is the same as the DeWalt DCS393.
With an 18 volt lithium ion battery, the XSS02Z will have a long run time and charge up really fast. It has been designed with a precision machined base with heavy gauge to ensure you always get an accurate and smooth cut. This makes it perfect for use in the harshest of work conditions.

Most aspects of these two circular saws are the same which makes it difficult to choose our favourite. For that reason it is a draw. Our recommendation is to go for the one of the brand you most prefer.
This is a powerful planer that is at the lower end of the price bracket for such a power tool. Even with its small and compact design the aluminium built 2012NB still delivers all the productivity needed by both home DIYers and professional tradesmen. The 15 Amp motor of this Makita power tool is highly powerful and can generate up to 8,500 RPM.
It operates whilst producing less noise than most other models and comes equipped with Makita’s Interna-Lok head clamp system that works to prevent snipe. This means that your chance of wasting materials is minimized. Turning the handle at the top counter clockwise allows you to adjust the finished dimensions.
The 2012NB features an LED light to indicate whether or not it is connected to a source of power. As standard, the Makita comes with a cutting blade that is easily changeable should it dull and need replacing. It boats a 28 feet per minute feed rate and you can pass your work piece through multiple times until you achieve the desired result.
It is clear to see from the build quality alone that this planer is a high quality power tool that will deliver great performance as well as being super durable and easy to use. This particular model comes equipped with 2 extension shelves that are metal along with a replacement set of knives. To adjust the height of the Dewalt DW735X you can simply adjust the wheel on the side. You can set this up to 6 inch.
With 2 speed options, you are able to choose between either a slow or fast setting. This will help you in reaching your desired outcome. The dial to switch between these two maximum speeds is on the front of the planer.
To achieve a smoother finish use the slower setting where the cutting blade will operate at a rate of 179 cuts per inch. When operating at the faster speed the DW735X will make just 96 cuts per second and will cut through a piece of wood much quicker.
In order to be able to consistently deliver these speeds the planer is equipped with a highly powerful 15 Amp motor that is capable of generating up to an impressive 20,000 RPM.

A 6 inch depth capacity
A 13 inch width capacity
A feed rate of 14 feet per minute
Can handle large cuts
Knives last a long time
Both of these planers are good at what they do. However, the one that has the best features in our opinion, and thus our favourite, is the DeWalt DW735X. This is mainly down to the fact that it has two speed settings.
This is a compact and highly portable miter saw that is easy to set up any use. It features Makita’s rail sliding system that is made from steel to improve the quality of the cut and rigidity. It is capable of making precise cuts and has a large capacity.
The Makita is powered by a 15 Amp direct drive motor which has the capability to go through aluminium, wood, plastic and even steel. The no load speed of this particular model is 3,200 RPM. This should stay consistent over time as it is not belt driven.
The cross cut capacity of the LS1216L at 90 degrees is 15 inch and has a maximum thickness of over 3 inch. For cutting crown molding it has a vertical cutting capacity of 6.5 inch. Cuts can be aligned accurately with this miter saw thanks to a built in laser guide. It can easily make bevel cuts at 45 degrees, as well as at 22.5 degree and 33.9 degrees.

Table does not come as standard
This is a close one, but we would have to say that our favourite is the DeWalt DWS780. This is because it has the greater portability of the two miter saws and also has a maximum speed which is higher than that of the Makita LS1216L.
This particular model comes equipped with a 60 volt battery pack, operating as a brushless motor. It has a speed dial that can choose a no load RPM of either 1,750 or 4,000 to make cuts that are over 2 inch thick. The DCS520T1 can bevel to an angle of 47 degrees and can cut at a depth of over 1 inch at 45 degrees. The track saw’s clamps sit along the whole length of the track making you secure short work pieces along all the length of the track.
The clamps can be clamped to any cutline angle. This makes it more versatile than a table saw as its fence can only be parallel to the cutting blade and that is it. You also have the option to use a miter gauge with the DCS520T1.
Its cutting blade sits almost entirely covered by a metal shroud which provides a higher level of safety and also acts to reduce the amount of dust and debris. It boasts a dust collection system that works really well meaning the power tool can be used indoors.
The guide rails on the Makita allow you to make perfectly straight and level cuts. It is powered by a 12 Amp motor, generating all of the horsepower you would ever want for cutting through thick work pieces.
Its motor has variable speeds which allow you to change the RPM depending on what you require. This can be done via a speed dial which provides you with a greater level of control, picking between an RPM of 2,000 through to 5,200. This helps to stop the motor from overheating.
Using the SP6000J1’s guards will allow you to cut through wood without splintering any of the edges. With its attached handle you can easily push down on top and squeeze the trigger to power the track saw. The handle has been rubberized to provide extra comfort.
The depth at which the SP6000J1 cuts at can be easily determined by using its plunge gauge. Although the gauge uses the metric system, these measurements can be easily converted so you can get the correct depth.

Both these compact routers lack the power to consistently deliver on those tougher jobs. Neither is aimed at professional tradesmen. With this in mind we cannot decide our favourite and so it is a draw.
Buying your power tools from a reputable brand such as Makita or DeWalt is a sure fire way to ensure you get a product that is both high performing and high quality. That is why they are trusted by home DIYers and professional tradesmen across the globe.
As for which brand is our favourite, it is clear to see from our recommendations of the different power tools that it is DeWalt. However, this was a very difficult decision as Makita do manufacture some of our favourite power tools.
WEN have been manufacturing high quality and robust power tools that have received many plaudits from those who have used them over the years.
Of all their power tools, we found that their drill presses are their best ones. In this review we will be looking at two of the best ones currently manufactured by WEN. We will look at the functions and features of each one and then compare them with one another.
Drill presses are unique types of drills that you will find in any metal or wood crafter’s workshop across the land. Although cordless hand held drills are the most widely used types of drills, they do not provide the same level of efficiency and accuracy for drilling into soft metals and wood that drill presses do.
What a drill press is, is an upright drill which has been bolted onto a work table with a platform and holes where your work piece can be placed on. Work pieces can be clamped down or positioned to make sure you get a hole drilled exactly where it is needed.
This is something that obviously can not be done with a hand drill as the hole is likely to move slightly. A drill press will guarantee more accurate holes each and every time. As a result of its ergonomic design, stress to the users body is also eliminated with a drill press as the power tool does all the hard work.
Drill presses are particularly useful for larger construction jobs and for professional tradesmen, such as furniture makers who require greater levels of precision. They are also desirable amongst those individuals who need a fast level of output.
In our review we will specifically focus on both the WEN 4210 and the WEN 4212 drill press. We will determine each of their strengths, weaknesses, and our recommendation on which one you should purchase.
This particular model has a powerful 3.2 amp motor, meaning it can tackle almost all jobs that it is put up against. It will make particularly light work of any wood work piece you put in its path. It will also easily go through most metals that are between 2 and 3 inch thick.
The 4210 will be able to put a hole in thinner steel work pieces, but will struggle with thicker steel. The drill press can be set at 5 different speeds, which range from 600 RPM at the lowest setting through to 3,100 RPM on the highest setting.
When drilling through tougher and thicker work pieces like metal, the lower speed settings should be used. For softer materials, such as wood, the higher speed settings should be used to increase efficiency.
This model of drill press is bigger than most others currently available on the market. This means it can handle larger work pieces. It also means you have a bigger table space so that you can drill holes that are as deep as up to 2.5 inch.
Its work bench has the ability to tilt at an angle of as much as 45 degrees, both to the right and to the left. This enables you to drill holes at perfect angles. The drill press also has a gauge for adjusting the depth and can be locked into place – a feature that is not normally found on most drill presses.
The 4210’s LED light helps to illuminate the bench. Additionally, there is a laser guide which shows you exactly where the drill head will be. This will help to increase the accuracy and precision of your work.
A 3.2 amp motor
Up to 3,100 RPM
A total weight of 54.4 lbs.
An LED bench light
A laser guide
A 45 degree angle
A maximum drill depth of 2.5 inch
An abundance of good features
A good range of speeds
Work bench can tilt up to 24 degrees
Work bench is illuminated
Manual adjustment of tensions on the belt is required to change speed
Thick steel can not be drilled through due to the motor not being strong enough
What we don’t like about the WEN 4210
Although it is not a big issue, in order to change the speed setting on this model the drill press needs opening and the tension level of the belt adjusted accordingly – depending on whether you want the speed decreasing or increasing.
The 4210 will struggle when it comes to drilling through the thickest of metals, such as steel. Its 3.2 amp motor is just not strong enough for such tasks. If you do want to try and drill through steel we recommend using the lowest speed setting and taking lots of care.
What others say about the WEN 4210
“I’m sure it’s not appropriate for professional use but it will allow to drill holes at home that you are 100% guaranteed to screw up otherwise if you tried it with a hand drill.”
“I’ve been using this one for a while and have been very impressed. It’s done everything I’ve asked of it thus far.”
This model by WEN features an impressive 4.5 amp motor meaning it is highly powerful drill press that will handle pretty much all jobs that come its way. It will make light work of both hard and soft work pieces.
Although it will easily go through metal, be sure to select the correct drill bits. This will stop them from becoming damaged or breaking altogether. The 4212 is able to operate at a wide range of speeds. Its range is from 530 RPM through to 3,100 RPM.
The lower end of the drill presses speed capabilities are perfect for when going through thicker maters such as hardwoods and heavy duty steel. Use the higher end of the speed controls when going through softwoods such as pine. Its work bench is large meaning it is capable of handling the biggest of work pieces. The 4212 can accommodate a thickness of as much as 5 inch. Along with its impressive swing, this model is able to tackle most professional grade projects.
This model boasts a work bench that can tilt to a maximum angle of 45 degrees to both the right and to the left. This gives it the versatility to drill angled holes. As standard, this model comes with a laser guide that is built in for those times when you need accurate work doing. The press drills work table is made out of a cast iron meaning it is super strong and will last for a life time, even with heavy use.
Manual adjustment of tensions on the belt is required to change speed
What we don’t like about the WEN 4212
We struggled to find anything we do not like with this model. One slight niggle is that it can be quite difficult to adjust the height of the table shaft.
What others say about the WEN 4212
“Simply amazing machine for the price. It is well worth the extra $50 to step up from the 4210 to get the following features: mechanical variable speed (no more mucking with the belts), laser guide, digital speed readout.”
“Very happy with this drill press. Easy to assemble with good instructions. Very quiet smooth motor with very minor vibration to the table. Love the variable speed control and RPM digital readout. Also, the rotary depth gauge wheel works great for setting the drill depth or using a drum sander to set and hold that position to free your hand to hold your work piece while sanding.”
Both of the WEN press drills are high powered power tools that are capable of doing pretty much any job that comes their way. Although the 4210 has lots of power and can handle almost all tasks, it is the 4212 that is the more powerful of the two models and can handle the most heavy duty of tasks.
The motor on the 4212 is 4.2 amp so it gives it an edge over the 4210. It can comfortably drill through more dense materials, such as thick steel, with absolute ease. We do advise that when drilling through these types of materials that you use the appropriate drill bits.
Something else we liked about the 4212 is that it has a better ability of speed control meaning you can perfectly adjust the drill presses’ speed to suit your needs rather than relying on the standard preprogrammed settings.
Regardless of which WEN model you go for, you should be highly satisfied with your press drill. However, with only a slightly higher price tag, we recommend the 4212 as it is much stronger than the 4210. This means you can work on larger more heavy duty tasks.
